Committee Member (Since 29/07/12)
I have been a Phoenix fan from day 1, a member of the Supporters Club since its first year and a Board member for the last 2. I have been active in helping out on game nights and you will see me on the Supporters Club desk under block 7 every game. I have found it hard work, but very rewarding and I have met some very wonderfully generous and supportive people.
Last year was a record breaking year for membership and I am keen that we keep the momentum going forward to make the Supporters Club a massive part of the Phoenix family.
I still love attending away games and I usually travel on the Phoenix coach. I have worked for HMRC for the last 31 years and live in Salford with my partner of 30 years, Pete (and our cat Kipper)
Secretary (Since 07/03/10)
My name is Julie Forrester and for those that don’t know me, I have been a board member of the MPSC since it’s inception.
I am usually to be found on the SC desk on match nights where I liaise with the Manchester Phoenix supporters and take bookings for events, help with fund-raising and all manner of other routine tasks. I also administer the fan’s away travel on the team coach on behalf of the hockey club and travel to most away games this way. Last year I was fortunate to be able to attend every game home and away.
I enjoy working with the Supporters’ Club and would like to continue in my role. I am passionate about the sport and enjoy trying to make the experience more enjoyable for supporters. One of the major roles of the Supporters Club is to raise funds to enable the team to be more competitive. I have enjoyed this aspect of the role and I am often humbled by the support we receive from our members. I look forward to trying to develop the fundraising further.
Although I am in full time employment, I try to devote as much time as necessary to the role.
I joined the board of the Supporters Club for the first time last year, with my number one aim being to make the Supporters Club a more professional entity. My main foucs over the past year has been the visual identity of the Supporter's club brand including a rebranding back in September as well as an improvement in promotional literature. I also spent the year looking at updating the clubs constitution, to make it clearer and better defined for all members.
Prior to last season, I had been heavily involved within the Manchester Phoenix organisation first as a helper on the ticket desk, then as a photographer, before moving into the post of Head of Photography and Imaging. This was a post I held for two years and in that time I have gained a good understanding of how the Hockey club works and its relationship with the fans, while at the same time gaining a good working relationship with Neil Morris and other members of the Phoenix organisation.
I have good experience of being on committess/boards in the past. This has helped me to gain an understanding of how to manoeuvre a non profit organisation, and how to improve in such difficult financial times.
I feel my dynamic approach to the board and help the Supporters Club onto bigger and better things.
I have supported Manchester Phoenix since day 1 - I have good memories of travelling to Deeside and Sheffiled for our home games!! I have also been a member of the Supporters Club from day one.
I have helped out previously on the Supporters club desk when the fundraising nights and Tombola have been held so Im not afraid of hardwork and helping with fundraisng for the club.
I would hope to bring some fresh ideas forward to help try and raise more funds and be hands on in any events that are put on by the club.
Treasurer (Since 01/09/10)
Most of you will know me as a volunteer on match nights where I look after the pre-paid collections, dragging ticket money from anybody that will part with it and looking after the odd guest or two invited by the players.
I have been a keen supporter of ice hockey for more years than I care to mention and a board member of the Supporters Club since its inception in the 2009/2010 season.
I try to do as much as I possibly can, whenever I can to keep ice hockey in Manchester. I would be happy to continue as a board member for a further term if the current members decide to re-elect me. I am keen to continue helping the club go from strength to strength.
